concert piece

kagem karina is a concert piece for string trio, keyboard & radios. it deals with a reading of culture as a rhizomatic structure & disruptions or misinterpretations in cultural exchange.

this reflection is worked out concretely on the relationship between javanese & european music (a relationship with a rich history of misunderstandings & appropriations). is it possible to grasp structures in depth instead of imitating surfaces? how can culture develop without ignoring the existence & richness of the other nor appropriating it violently & superficially? is there still any distinct culture at all or has everything become one unifying “hyperculture” (byung-chul han)?
